Every service in the Hibiscus Coast covers the indoor filters, coil, fan and drain tray, the outdoor coil and fan, the condensate drain, the pipe insulation and the electrical connections. We measure air temperatures in and out to confirm the unit is performing, and we tell you plainly if anything needs repair, with photos where they help.

Annual servicing on the Hibiscus Coast, where salt reaches almost every unit

Much of the Hibiscus Coast sits closer to the sea than the 500 metre zone BRANZ treats as the highest sea spray risk, so salt is the main reason we suggest servicing here every year. Orewa beachfront homes and the Whangaparāoa Peninsula, which catches wind off the Gulf from both sides, see the heaviest exposure. At each visit the outdoor coil is rinsed with fresh water and the fins, casing and mounting brackets are checked, with photos of any corrosion so you can see how it is progressing.

Holiday homes are common, and a unit that sits idle for weeks and then runs hard over summer can have a dusty coil and a slow drain. We run it in both heating and cooling during the service to confirm it is performing before your next stay. In Millwater and Silverdale the homes are newer and well sealed, so units are usually smaller and run in cooling as much as heating, which keeps the indoor coil wet and makes the drain check important.

Older Orewa beach houses with single glazing tend to work their units hard in winter. A struggling unit there may be undersized rather than faulty, and our report will say which. Whangaparāoa homes with living areas facing the view often have big windows that bring summer glare, so lounge units there also work in cooling, and we test both modes. Units on brackets high on exposed walls get a check of the bracket bolts as well as the unit itself.

Local tip: If you only visit your Hibiscus Coast bach in summer, book the service for spring so the unit is checked before its heavy cooling season.

Heat Pump Servicing in the Hibiscus Coast: Local Conditions

Hibiscus Coast units take a steady load of salt air, so we recommend servicing at least once a year. Each visit includes a rinse of the outdoor coil and a check for corrosion on fins, casings and brackets.

Homes in the Hibiscus Coast

Orewa's 1960s and 1970s beach houses were built before insulation was mandatory and many still have single glazing, so they lose heat quickly in winter and need sizing for heat loss rather than floor area. Peninsula homes from Red Beach to Army Bay span the 1970s to today, often with living areas facing the view through large windows that bring both winter heat loss and summer glare. Millwater, Milldale and newer Whangaparāoa homes are 2010s and later builds with insulation and double glazing, where smaller units, summer cooling and good ventilation matter more than raw heating capacity.

How We Handle Heat Pump Servicing in the Hibiscus Coast

We then run the system on heat and cool and measure air temperatures to confirm it is performing. Drains are flushed so condensate leaves the unit cleanly.

Pricing: every job starts with a free in-home assessment and a written quote, with a fixed price agreed before any work starts.

Heat Pump Servicing Hibiscus Coast FAQs

Should a Whangaparāoa heat pump be serviced more often than one in town?

Yes. The peninsula takes salt and wind from both sides, so outdoor coils and fixings corrode faster. A yearly service with a rinse of the outdoor coil is the interval we suggest there.

Can you service heat pumps in my rental properties in the Hibiscus Coast?

Yes. We service rental units for landlords and property managers, arrange access with tenants and provide a report for your records.

Why does my heat pump smell musty?

Moisture and dust inside the indoor unit can grow mould on the coil and fan. A filter wash will not reach it, so the unit needs a deep clean.
